Christopher Cook Quoted In Tarheel Q Salmonella Outbreak

After eating at Tarheel Q in Lexington, 232 people have shown symptoms of salmonella poisoning and the number is growing. WYMNews2 talked with Christopher Cook of Alliance Insurance Services. He said any injuries to a guest at a restaurant would be covered by a general liability policy. Most restaurants have it but it is not required.

If Tarheel Q has general liability insurance, it would pay for any patient medical bills. Cook said his company typically offers $1 million coverage per event.

Other coverage could also reimburse the restaurant to replace contaminated food and for lost income while it’s closed. Again, it all depends on what type of coverage Tarheel Q has. Cook said if the restaurant has this coverage he’s almost certain the owner has already filed a claim.
